Montserrat made headlines in 2002 when they were invited to play against Bhutan in what was called "The Other Final". It was a Dutch-Japanese initiative that brought the then two lowest ranked FIFA teams together. I believe it became the basis of an documentary film. Montserrat (still recovering from the 1995 eruption of the Soufriere Hills volcano) have made some progress since, only losing 7-1 to Suriname in their recent first round one-off World Cup qualifier.
Suriname will now face near neighbours Guyana in the 2nd Round of CONCACAF qualifiers. That game between two South American nations who do not play their football against other South Americans promises to be a classic.
